2009/10 Portland Trailblazers
Although this seasons incarnation of the Blazers regressed from last season by four games (the team ended the year 50-32) this version of the team is much tougher than last seasons. In a tough Western Conference, Portland thrived and succeeded and proved to themselves and the rest of the NBA that they are fully back from the brink of NBA obscurity.
Finishing 6th in the West, the team must face a strong Phoenix Suns team that should prove hard to beat in the 2010 NBA Playoffs. In head to head matchups 1-5, the Suns are better at every position. But don’t tell the Blazer’s that as they took game one of the NBA Playoffs 105-100.
2008/09 NBA Season
The Blazers improved by 13 games to finish the year at 54-28, good for 2nd in the NW Division. In the playoffs, the Blazers felt good with their chances against the Houston Rockets but despite Brandon Roy leading all scorers in the series, Houston took the series 4 games to 2. The franchise felt the team was moving in the right direction and needed just a couple more players to compliment Rudy Fernandez and Brandon Roy.
2007/08 NBA Season
The Trailblazers won the right to choose first in the ’07 draft pick, and they hit the Jackpot with Greg Oden. Slowly but surely, the Blazers are snapping up young talent in the league. This is great news for ticket buying fans and they can expect an exciting ’07-08 season. Rookie Brandon Roy should be a good compliment to Oden, and Jarret Jack is proving to be a brilliant point guard, leading the team in assists last season. Lucky draft-day moves landed the Blazers Spanish point guard Sergio Rodriguez and eager forward LaMarcus Aldridge. It is shaping up to be a good season for the Blazers – and they are doing everything it takes to build up the franchise. Though the team finished at 41-41, the Blazers made great strides in putting a team together that can compete in the Playoffs.
